Luxurious Bathroom Remodel with Statement Porcelain Feature Wall, Bristow, Va.
Our clients wanted a primary bathroom that felt like a five-star spa — dramatic, restful, and built around one unforgettable material moment. Slate designed a luxurious primary bathroom remodel in Bristow around a Riyadh Jade porcelain accent set behind the freestanding tub — a warm cream field carried by Lafaenza Oro Crema porcelain on the surrounding floor and shower walls — and let the rest of the room quiet down around it. It is the kind of spa-caliber renovation we design regularly for homeowners across Prince William County and the broader Northern Virginia market.
Twin his-and-hers vanities in Metropolitan Derita flat-panel cabinetry painted Sherwin Williams Porpoise wrap the front of the room, each finished with Top Knobs Ascendra pulls in Honey Bronze, polished Silestone Calypso counters, undermount rectangular porcelain sinks, matte black Delta Geist widespread faucets, black-and-gold framed rectangular mirrors, and a four-light Shades of Light Merigold vanity fixture in Aged Brass. Between the vanities and a private water closet, a full-height Porpoise-gray linen tower gives the room hidden storage. The floor is Lafaenza Oro Crema 24-by-24 porcelain, with a Riyadh Jade accent framing the tub area to key the room’s centerpiece into the flooring. Overhead lighting is layered — recessed cans, Capital Lighting Winter Gold sconces at the vanity zone, and a matte black Warmly Yours Grande hardwired towel warmer. A walk-in shower behind the vanity wall repeats the material story: Lafaenza Oro Crema porcelain on the walls, a Riyadh Jade accent inside the shower, a Metropolis Dark Grey polished 2-by-2 porcelain mosaic on the shower floor, and matte black Delta Dorval trim with a rain shower, handheld, and thermostatic valve.

Homeowner Vision
Our clients wanted a spa-caliber primary bathroom built around one dramatic stone-look moment — the kind of feature accent you notice every time you walk into the room — with twin vanities, a freestanding tub, and a private walk-in shower that felt like an extension of the same space.
Challenges Solved
A symmetrical spa bathroom built around a single Riyadh Jade porcelain accent shared by the tub area and the walk-in shower.
Set the Signature Hardware Desborough 69-inch freestanding soaking tub with a floor-mounted Delta Dorval matte black tub filler dead-center on the porcelain accent
Coordinated the Riyadh Jade porcelain accent so it reads across the tub area and the walk-in shower as one continuous design moment
Balanced two full vanities in a symmetrical layout with matching mirrors, sconces, and Porpoise-gray cabinetry
Layered warm metal finishes — Honey Bronze cabinet pulls, Aged Brass vanity lights, Winter Gold sconces, and black-and-gold framed mirrors — against matte black Delta plumbing throughout
Tucked a private water closet off the main room with its own Porpoise-gray wall cabinet
Added a Warmly Yours Grande matte black hardwired towel warmer plus a Warmly Yours heated floor system with programmable thermostat
Kept the material story consistent between the tub area and the walk-in shower so the room reads as one design

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a large-format porcelain accent and why use it over natural stone?
A large-format porcelain accent uses 24-by-24-inch (or larger) porcelain tile printed and glazed to look like highly figured stone. In this Bristow bathroom we used the Riyadh Jade porcelain to run one continuous jade-veined accent behind the freestanding tub and inside the walk-in shower. Porcelain gives you the drama of figured stone with better stain, heat, and water resistance — a real advantage in a working bathroom.
Can you install a freestanding tub with a floor-mounted tub filler in any bathroom?
Only if the floor structure and rough-in are planned for it. A floor-mounted tub filler requires plumbing brought up through the subfloor at a precise location, so we lay it out during design — not after tile. In this Bristow project we set the Signature Hardware Desborough tub dead-center on the Riyadh Jade accent with a Delta Dorval floor-mounted matte black filler centered too, so the composition reads as one deliberate moment.
How do you make his-and-hers vanities feel like a single design?
Symmetry and one shared material story. On this Bristow bathroom we mirrored the two vanities across the room with identical Metropolitan Derita flat-panel cabinetry painted Sherwin Williams Porpoise, matching polished Silestone Calypso counters, matching black-and-gold framed Ren Wil mirrors, and matching four-light Shades of Light Merigold fixtures. Between them, we set a full-height linen tower so the wall reads as one continuous elevation.
Can you mix multiple metal finishes in a bathroom?
Yes — as long as you assign each finish a job. In this bathroom, Honey Bronze lives on the cabinet pulls, Aged Brass lives on the vanity lights, Winter Gold lives on the sconces, matte black lives on all Delta plumbing and the Warmly Yours towel warmer, and the mirror frames tie the palette together in black and gold. Because each finish is anchored to a specific role, the palette reads as intentional instead of busy.
Do you serve homeowners outside of Bristow?
Yes. Slate designs and builds primary bathroom remodels across Northern Virginia — Prince William County (Bristow, Gainesville, Haymarket, Manassas), Fairfax County, and Loudoun County.
